Bethany Meilani Hamilton
Bethany Hamilton is an American professional surfer, writer and soon-to-be mum of four. She became widely known for her remarkable story of resilience and determination.
At the age of 13, she suffered a life-changing event. While she was out surfing, she was attacked by a large tiger shark, resulting in the loss of her left arm. Despite that, Bethany's love for surfing and her unwavering spirit allowed her to make an incredible comeback. She continued to compete professionally and achieved numerous successes in the world of surfing.
In addition to her surfing career, Bethany is also an author and motivational speaker. She has written several books, including her autobiography "Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board." This book was later adapted into a film called "Soul Surfer".
